Chevrolet colloquially referred to as Chevy is the car division of General Motors. The company was founded by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant in 1911 as the Chevrolet Motor Car Company.

Chevrolet-badged cars are marketed in most automotive markets worldwide. In 2005, Chevrolet was relaunched in Europe, originally marketing vehicles produced by GM Daewoo of South Korea. With the reintroduction of Chevrolet to Europe, GM expected Chevrolet to be a mainstream value brand, while GM's traditional European standard-bearers, Opel of Germany and Vauxhall of the United Kingdom, would be moved upmarket.

Still, GM shifted this move in late 2013, stating that the brand would be withdrawn from Europe from 2016 onward, excluding the Camaro and Corvette. After General Motors took GM Daewoo in 2011 to create GM Korea, the last usage of the Daewoo was abandoned in its native South Korea and succeeded by Chevrolet.

In North America, Chevrolet manufactures and markets a wide range of cars, from subcompact vehicles to medium-duty commercial trucks. Due to the influence and name recognition of Chevrolet as one of General Motors' global brand, Chevrolet, Chevy or Chev is used at times as an equivalent for General Motors or its products.

Chevrolet owner's manuals are important resources for understanding the features, maintenance requirements, and safety features of your specific Chevrolet model.
