Fiat Automobiles S.p.A. is an Italian carmaker, a subsidiary of FCA Italy S.p.A., which is part of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (earlier Fiat S.p.A.). Fiat Automobiles was established in January 2007 when Fiat organized its car business and follows its history back to 1899 when the first Fiat vehicle, the Fiat 4 HP, was born.

Fiat Automobiles is the largest car producer in Italy. With more than a century-long history, it remained the biggest carmaker in Europe and the third in the world after General Motors and Ford as over 20 years, until the car industry disaster in the late 1980s. In 2013, Fiat S.p.A. was the second biggest European automaker by volumes created and the seventh in the world. Presently FCA is the world's eighth-largest maker.

Fiat-brand vehicles are manufactured in several locations around the world. Outside Italy, the biggest country of making is Brazil, where the Fiat brand is the market leader. The group also has plants in Argentina, Poland, and Mexico and a rich history of licensing production of its products in other countries.
