Model overview
The Hyundai Accent or Hyundai Verna in South Korea is a subcompact car manufactured by Hyundai. In 2000 the Accent was replaced by Hyundai Verna in South Korea, the rest of the international markets, including the US, held the "Accent" name.
In 2008, Hyundai Accent was called the most reliable subcompact car by J.D. Power and Associates.
The Accent is equipped with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine producing 120-130 horsepower depending on the year model and front wheels drive with a six-speed manual or continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Delivering good fuel-economy numbers as expected from small cars, the Accent fuel economy is rated between 33 and 36mpg on the new models.
Hyundai Accent known problems
- If the boot is leaking in the water on the car, then the boot seal is prone to leaking in this car. If it is leaking you will notice wet stains and/or will have damp carpets.
- The ignition coil is known for failing on the Accent. If the engine management warning light has appeared on the dashboard and/or you are having problems with the engine misfiring (poor idling), then the ignition coil will be faulty.
- If you are having problems with the electric windows being very hesitant, then it is usually produced by a faulty window regulator. You will most likely be noticed that the windows are opening/closing very slowly.
- The wing mirrors on the Accent are likely to rust.
