Model overview
The Kia Carens is a compact MPV introduced in 1999 by the Korean carmaker Kia Motors. It is sold globally across third generations under different nameplates, mainly as the Kia Rondo. The title Rondo comes from the musical term Rondo.
The second-generation Carens, recognized as the UN line, debuted in 2006. In North America and Australia, the automobile is named the Rondo and Rondo7 respectively. The Rondo was introduced at the 2006 Los Angeles International Auto Show with sales beginning in North America in 2007 for the same model year.
The Rondo was available with either five or optional seven-passenger seats and was powered by a standard 175 hp 2.4L 4-cylinder engine or an optional 192 hp 2.7L V6 engine in two trim levels. In Australia, it is only available as a seven-passenger equipped with a 2.0L four-cylinder engine and paired either to an automatic or manual transmission, depending on trim level.
