Model overview

The Kia Carnival is a minivan produced by Kia Motors. It was launched in January 1998 and sold across third generations under various nameplates, prominently as the Kia Sedona.

In North America from 2006 to 2009, Hyundai sold a rebadged variant, the Hyundai Entourage.

The Kia Sedona is equipped with a 3.3 L-liter gas engine, with output up to 276 hp, depending on the engine type, a front-wheel-drive, and paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Kia Sedona known problems

Some of the common problems or complaints owners have about the Kia Sedona are:

• Issues related to the braking system including worn rotors that need resurfacing, worn brake pads and shoes, vibration during braking, or excessive sound.
• Other problems are related to the engine including not being able to turn the key once it is inserted, or not being able to remove it once the car is shut off.
• Problems involving the throttle position sensor. This is an electronic sensor placed in the engine that controls the amount of fuel used for combustion.
• Some Sedona models come with automatic sliding side doors that are prone to a range of mechanical problems. Most notably the case when the sliding doors fail to respond to the "close" button on the key fob, or close but then quickly re-open.
