Model overview
The Kia Optima is a mid-size automobile produced by Kia Motors as 2000 and sold globally through multiple nameplates. First-generation vehicles were mostly sold as the Optima, although the Kia Magentis name was adopted in Europe and Canada in 2002. For the second generation, Kia adopted the Kia Lotze and Kia K5 alias for the South Korean market, and the Magentis name globally, without in the North America where the Optima name was held until the 2021 model year.
The Optima alias is now going to be applied for all markets except China, Saudi Arabia, and the United States, where they will also adopt the K5 name. The 2021 Optima will not be marketed in Europe due to insufficient sales for its ancestor.
The Kia K5 is offered in five trim levels: LX, LXS, GT-Line, EX, and GT. Front-wheel drive is by default, and all-wheel drive is optional the LXS and GT-Line. The base LX trim comes equipped with an appealing blend of traits, including a 180-horsepower turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
