Model overview

The Toyota MR2 is a  mid-engined, two-seat, rear-wheel-drive sports automobile produced in Japan and sold internationally by Toyota from 1984 to 2007 across three generations. It is Japan's premier mid-engined making car.

Imagined as a tiny, efficient and sporty car, the MR2 used sincere design parts, including fully-independent MacPherson strut front and rear suspensions, a transverse-mounted inline-four motor, and four-wheel disc brakes. The name MR2 holds for both "mid-ship run-about 2-seater" and "mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive, 2-seater".

Toyota used the naturally aspirated 1.6 L inline-four engine, a powertrain, obtained from the E80 series Corolla for the first generation MR2. This engine was provided with electronic port fuel injection and T-VIS variable intake geometry, allowing the engine maximum power output of 112 hp (84 kW) in the US and 128 hp (95 kW) in the UK. It comes paired by default with a five-speed manual transmission, and an optional four-speed automatic transmission.
