Model overview
The Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class is a compact luxury roadster, built by Mercedes-Benz. It was launched in 1996 and has since been produced at the Mercedes factory in Bremen, Germany.
The previous name "SLK" was acquired from sportlich (sporty), leicht (light), and kurz (short). With the debut of the facelift R172 in 2016, the SLK-Class was changed to SLC-Class in accordance with the revised classification used by Mercedes. Following this scheme, roadsters use the base name "SL", followed by the model's position in Mercedes-Benz hierarchy, the letter "C", being the roadster equivalent to the C-Class.
The Mercedes-Benz SLC-Class is available in the following submodels: SLC-Class Convertible and SLC-Class AMG SLC 43. Available styles incorporate SLC 300 2dr Convertible (2.0L 4cyl), and AMG SLC 43 2dr Convertible (3.0L 6cyl). The Mercedes-Benz SLC-Class comes with a rear-wheel-drive and paired with a 9-speed shiftable automatic transmission.
