The Tesla Model S is a fully electric five-door sedan built by Tesla, Inc., and debuted in 2012. The Tesla Model S was the top-selling plug-in electric automobile globally in 2015 and 2016, and by the end of 2018 continued to rank as the second most-sold electric automobile in history after the Nissan Leaf.
The Tesla Model S is available in two variants: Long Range (later modified to Long Range Plus) and Performance. Both use the very 100-kWh battery pack and come by default with an all-wheel drive. The standard Model S Long Range allows 373 miles of range and a 0-60 mph time of 3.7 seconds. The Model S Performance offers 348 miles, but a0-60 mph time of 2.4 seconds.
As of 2020, the Model S Long Range Plus has an EPA reach of 402 miles (647 km), higher than any other battery-electric automobile.
