Model overview

The Toyota Supra is a sports car and grand tourer produced by Toyota Motor Corporation starting 1978. The original four generations of the Supra were built from 1978 till 2002 and the fifth-generation has been launched in 2019. The design of the initial Supra was originated from the Toyota Celica, but it was both larger and wider.

In mid-1986, the A70 Supra shifted to a separate model from the Celica and Toyota ended using the prefix Celica and called the vehicle Supra. The first, second, and third generations of the Supra were constructed in Tahara, Aichi, while the fourth generation was built in Toyota City. The fifth generation of the Supra is constructed alongside the BMW Z4.

In 1998, Toyota stopped sales of the fourth generation of the Supra in the United States, and the making of the fourth generation stopped in 2002. In 2019, the fifth generation of the Supra, which was co-produced with the G29 Z4, was launched.

The new Toyota Supra is powered by BMW's B58, turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine, producing 335 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque and is paired with ZF's eight-speed automatic, the unique available transmission.
