Model overview

The Subaru Impreza is a compact automobile that has been built by Subaru as 1992 across five generations. It debuted as a follower for the Leone, with the predecessor's EA series engines followed by the new EJ series.

There have been seven well-known variants of the WRX dating back from Subaru's first World Rally Cross staging automobile. Subaru used the name "WRX" to stand for "World Rally eXperimental" as all WRX variants highlight rally-inspired technology, including all-wheel drive, hardened suspensions, and turbocharged four-cylinder powertrains.

The Subaru WRX is offered in five trim levels (base, Premium, Limited, STI and STI Limited). Base WRX models are powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder powertrain (268 hp, 258 lb-ft of torque), paired to a six-speed manual transmission and all-wheel drive. STI models come with a larger engine and more power (310 horsepower, 290 lb-ft of torque), paired only with a six-speed manual transmission.
