Model overview

The Nissan Pathfinder is a sport utility vehicle produced by Nissan since 1986, using Nissan's pickup truck platform in the beginning. It's available across multiple generations, currently the fourth.

The Pathfinder was sold as the Nissan Terrano outside North America but starting 2004, the R51 line-up was sold globally as the Pathfinder.

The Pathfinder is equipped with a V-6 engine that can be defined as adequate. It's not the quickest car in its class, nor the slowest. The 284-hp 3.5-liter engine is the average engine in its class. All the Pathfinders come equipped with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) that delivers smooth in daily driving. The Pathfinder can tow up to 6000 pounds, with over 1000 pounds more than most rivals. 

Both front and rear-wheel-drive versions of the Nissan Pathfinder have good EPA metrics hitting between 22 mpg on the economy route and 26 mpg on the highway position himself near the top of his class. 

Nissan Pathfinder known problems

• This suspension problem is observed when you are driving on rough surfaces and may notice a knocking sound that is produced by a failure within the rod bushes. 
• An electrical problem on the lock actuator causing problems with the power of the door locks.
• Some clunking sound in front of the car produces by metals grinding against each other.
• Headlights problems caused by one light not working or operating as it should.
• A failure within the voltage regulator causing the car to have fuel issues or temperature gauges not running.
