Model overview

The Honda Ridgeline is a pickup truck produced by Honda and is described as a lifestyle pickup. The Ridgeline and the Honda Acty mini-truck are the only pickup trucks currently manufactured by the Honda Motor Company. The Ridgeline is created using a unibody frame, a transverse-mounted engine, and is only available in a crew-cab short-box style.

The Honda Ridgeline is available in four trim levels: Sport, RTL, RTL-E, and Black Edition. All Ridgelines are equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine (280 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque) paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on the Sport and RTL trim levels, while the all-wheel drive is optional. The other trims come standard with all-wheel-drive (AWD).

Honda Ridgeline known problems

Some of the common problems or complaints owners have about the Honda Ridgeline are:

• There is concern that some sort of electrical overstress is messing with airbag control units (ACU). This can affect the first generation of Ridgeline (2006-2014).
• A high number of Honda vehicles have been recalled because they contain dangerous airbag inflators produced by Takata. The models from 2006-2010 are affected.
• Owners reported concerns about malfunctions in the system that produce the auto-brakes to engage randomly, adaptive cruise control forgetting to adapt and the radar to get confused on sunny days. This seems to appear in the second generation of the Honda Ridgeline.
• Honda switched to a soy-based coating for its wiring causing an engine full of rodent-friendly chewing material. The soy-coating looks to be pulling rabbits, mice, and other rodents to use as a chew-toy and nesting material. The second generation of Ridgeline is affected.
