Model overview

The Ford Freestyle is a CUV that was marketed by Ford from 2005 through 2009. Mostly sold as the replacement to the Ford Taurus station wagon, the Freestyle was the equivalent of the Ford Five Hundred and Mercury Montego four-door sedans. Built on the same platform as with the Five Hundred and Montego, the Freestyle was available with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive setups and six or seven-passenger room.

Following the arrival of the Ford Taurus for the 2008 model year, the Freestyle experienced an update and was renamed the Ford Taurus X in North America. Following the 2009 model year, the Taurus X was removed. From the 2009 model year, the bigger Ford Flex has served as the three-row Ford CUV.

The Freestyle was available with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive (AWD) and equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 engine producing 203 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque. The powertrain was paired to continuously variable transmission (CVT) as the standard option.
